I think this should be the last 'age' card for a while...probably. Again using the Large Number templates from Stamps Away, & a 6x6 Elegant card from Craftwork cards, but as I mentioned in my last post, using 6x6 Tutti Fruiti papers by Crafts House - beautiful rainbow colour designs on ivory pearl paper...lush!
Also in a break from the other age cards, I resisted the urge to use the Studio G alpha stamps & instead used fabby sentiments designed by Paula Pascual (for Personal Impressions). This particular sheet is 'Double Sayings'...Being as the card is over a week overdue, they seemed appropriate - oops! I embossed using Cosmic Shimmer Blaze EP in Raspberry Violet, so a little blurry as these stamps really need a detail EP to do them proper justice.
Had a bit of a distaster while embossing though...First off I smudged the versamark 'happy belated birthday' line, which only became obvious when I applied the EP. Brushed all that off & re-stamped and there's a slight shadow left from the 'pearl' element of the powder, but it's not horrific. Then all seemed to be going well as I used the heat tool till I held up the finished piece for my daughter to inspect to see that the word 'forgot' had somehow turned into a white smudgy blob! No idea how it happened, the only explaination I can think of is that I maybe just caught the edge of the heat tool on it & it over-melted & dragged the melted powder? Anyhoo, I walked away gently cursing (the kids are on hols LOL) & was going to chuck the whole thing in the bin & start again later (I'd had to stick the numbers down before embossing cos I was stamping across both numbers IYSWIM). But as I made lunch I had a thought to have a go at scraping off the white smudged bit - I was going to scrap it anyway, so if it didn't work it was no loss. And to my utter surprise it actually worked! I gently scrapped the whole word away with my craft knife & the paper underneath just looks slightly distressed. The complicated bit was re-stamping & embossing just the 'forgot' (loads of anti-static pad & masking tape applied over the unwanted words). As you can see, it was slightly out of kilter with the rest of the phrase, but it was much better than starting from scratch!
